Native Plants Focus of Library Grounds

The library’s environmental footprint is tiny, but we are halfway native. We have a small grass lawn facing Old Easton Road and a long narrow flowerbed along the north side of the building. About five years ago, two area native plant nurseries donated plants to fill the north-side bed, and those natives are flourishing.

Joanne Donohue

Local horticulturalist Joanne Donohue took us a bit farther up the path several years ago by tackling the front bed. Now volunteers from the Tohickon Garden Club have taken over management of our flower beds, weeding and trimming.

Many thanks to both Northeast Natives and Perennials of Quakertown and Edge of the Woods Native Plants of Orefield for their donation of plants, and to Ms. Donohue and the Tohickon Garden Club for the donation of their time and expertise.
